The new Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater is only 6.85mm thick, thanks to the exclusive BVL Calibre 362, which measures just 3.12mm. The record-breaking ultra-thin timepiece was revealed at Baselworld 2016.
Bulgari set a new standard in the industry by delivering excellent sound in the smallest amount of space so far. The Octo Minute Repeater broke the previous record, held by Piaget’s Emperador Coussin Ultra-thin Minute Repeater since 2013.
The minute repeater is one of the most complex horological complications. The feat of housing it in such a small space without losing the feel and look of a traditional timepiece was achieved in Bulgari’s Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie in Le Sentier, Switzerland.
The Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater is part of mason’s collection of ultra-thin watches and follows the Octo Tourbillon Finissimo, the thinnest tourbillon in the world, launched in 2014.
The new timepiece will be produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces, featuring a lightweight titanium case and dial and the record-breaking 3.12mm BVL Calibre 362, exclusively conceived and crafted by Bulgari. The overall thickness of the case is just 6.85mm.
“This chiming watch sets a new standard within the field of the highly complicated extra-thin creations. With the new Minute Repeater, the Maison is laying a new milestone in the field of incomparably slim timepieces,” explains Guido Terreni, managing director of Bulgari Horlogerie.
The Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater was debuted on the first day of Baselworld 2016, in the presence of the actors Luke Evans, ambassador of the brand, and French actress-model Olga Kurylenko.
